We are Mike and Julia Moreton. We have been in education for a combined total of almost 60 years. We grew up in the UK and followed the typical pathways for careers in teaching in government schools where most of our experience comes from.
In 2013 we decided that there was more to experience than the education pathways offered within the UK and we looked at teaching internationally.
For two years Julia and I worked in Qatar in educational leadership and in 2015, Julia’s role changed slightly within the same organisation where she became a Deputy Principal, while I moved to Malaysia to lead a new secondary school startup.

The international learning culture was definitely something we enjoyed and it didn’t take long before we realised that we had made the right decision and we would be remaining in an international environment for a few years to come.
I stayed in Malaysia for 10 years, while Julia remained in Qatar for a further 4 years and then joined me in Malaysia.
With so many opportunities for travel now coming our way we took advantage of travelling to many countries around the Middle East, Asia and Oceania as exploring was now well and truly embedded in our blood. Visits to New Zealand, India, Thailand and Iceland just cemented the vision.

The UK will always have a hold on us due to family and memories, but the world of adventure has been pulling very hard and the time for real exploration has come. At the age of 60 (Mike) and 57 (Julia), time is moving on and with so many people, cultures and countries yet to visit. We have put our world of paid employment to one side and decided to allow the natural world to have some time to teach us a few things.

If you have scanned through the website, you will have discovered our vision to tour around the world in a 4×4 truck visiting places that are perhaps ……off the main highway. We will be documenting our whole journey, however long it takes, through social media platforms and this website. Hopefully some of this will not just spark a vision for you, but ignite a passion that sees that the world is a small place indeed and you can get out there and see what its like.
